Curriculum

Fairview school follows to the British Curriculum by delivering the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), a child centered curriculum that approaches early years learning as a holistic, integrated focus on children’s creative expression, physical and communication skills as well as emotional and social development. Learning is carefully structured, yet allows for exploratory, child-initiated experiences.

The British curriculum enables children learn through a range of activities. It defines its provision for pre-school education through the EYFS framework which sets and specifies standards and objectives of learning and development for pre-school children.

EYFS Principles into Practice
The EYFS ensures that children learn through play, carers work closely with parents, parents are kept up to date on their children’s learning and that all children are included in learning irrespective of background, levels of ability or special education needs.

The four themes of the EYFS are:

  • A unique child
  • Positive relationships
  • Enabling environments
  • Learning and development

The EYFS curriculum is organized around the six areas of learning which have equal value and importance. The six areas of learning, assessment and report are:

  • Personal Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Communication, Language and Literacy (CLL)
  • Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (PRN)
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World (KUW)
  • Physical Development (PD)
  • Creative Development (CD)

Topics

Topics covered by the children within the classroom are stimulating, fun, age appropriate platform through which learning objectives are delivered.

The topics are broad-gauged and are planned to engage and incorporate all areas of development. Nursery activities are assimilated within the topic in order to compact and extend learning outcomes.
